SOUL OWNERS OFFERING $100,000 TO HELP SAVE ST. HUBERT'S THROUGH FUNDRAISING PLAN
Decision on School Closure Slated for Feb. 15
PHILADELPHIA (February 8, 2012) – The Philadelphia Soul and the St. Hubert’s Catholic High
School’s Alumnae Association announced a unique partnership that will unite them in engaging Soul
fans and St. Hubert’s students, parents, alumnae, board members, supporters and community in a
fundraiser to help save St. Hubert’s through a significant fundraising initiative.
On Friday, January 6th, 2012 the Archdiocesan Blue Ribbon Commission recommended the closure
of St. Hubert Catholic High School for Girls in June. The St. Hubert Board of Advisors and Alumnae
Association appealed this decision, and the final decision on the school closure looms for February 15,
2012. Since January 6th, $783,000 has been raised to save the school with a goal to raise $1 million
before the February 15 decision date.
Three of the Philadelphia Soul owners were born and raised in Northeast Philadelphia. Peter Ciarrocchi
(owner of Chickie’s and Pete’s, also hosting a beef and beer fundraiser on February 12 for this
initiative), Marty Judge (CEO/Owner, The Judge Group) and Cosmo DeNicola (owner, Amtech
Software and Futura Services) understand the value of St. Hubert’s to the Northeast Philadelphia
Community and are committed to saving the school from closure and promoting its long-term financial
sustainability.
As owners of the Philadelphia Soul Arena Football Team, they make the following pledge: If the St.
Hubert’s community purchases 1,000 tickets to any 2012 Soul game, they will donate $15,000 to help
save St. Hubert’s Catholic High School, if 2,500 tickets are purchased, they will donate $40,000 and if
5,000 tickets are purchased, they will donate $100,000 all to help save St. Hubert’s.
“St. Hubert’s is part of the fabric of Northeast Philadelphia,” said Ciarrocchi. “We’re a hard working
community that recognizes the true value of education. Marty, Cosmo and I have deep roots in this
community and want to do our part to save this valued institution. Along with our partners Craig
Spencer and Ron Jaworski, we are honored to use the Philadelphia Soul’s resources to save St.
Hubert’s.”
“The outpouring of support to save St. Hubert has been unprecedented and we couldn’t be happier
with our fundraising efforts. The Philadelphia Soul organization’s core values mirror the proud family
values of Northeast Philadelphia and their generosity not only gives us a real opportunity to reach our
$1 million fundraising goal, but will also provide our community an opportunity to celebrate the success
of saving the school at a 2012 Soul game,” said Kathryn Ott Lovell, a member of the school’s advisory
board and a 1992 graduate.
Please note that your tickets will be in voucher form and are valid for any of the nine Soul 2012 home games based on availability and your tickets will be mailed to you.
